GFP Commission Finalizes Several Hunting and Trapping Seasons

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission has finalized several hunting and trapping seasons.

There were no proposed changes to the seasons, and with no formal action on the rules, they remain unchanged from 2012.

Archery Antelope with season dates will run from Aug. 17 - Oct. 31 Beaver Season will have season dates year-round for West River (excluding the Black Hills Fire Protection District), Nov. 2 - Apr. 30 for all counties east of the Missouri River, and Jan. 1-Mar. 31 for portions of the Black Hills Fire Protection District that are owned by the U.S. Forest Service and south of Interstate 90 and west of state Highway 79.

Muskrat Shooting Season will run from Apr. 1 - Aug. 31, 2014

Mink and Weasel Trapping Season dates are Nov. 2, 2013 - Jan. 31, 2014

Muskrat Trapping Season dates will be year-round West River, except that portion of the Black Hills Fire Protection District south of Interstate 90 and west of state Highway 79; from Nov 2, 2013 - Apr. 30, 2014 for counties east of the Missouri River and the portion of the Black Hills Fire Protection District south of Interstate 90 and west of Highway 79. Trapping is prohibited on or in muskrat houses from March 16 to the end of the season.

Fox, Skunk, Coon, Opossum, Jackrabbit and Badger seasons are open year-round statewide.
