Clean Miss Elk
I only get to hunt weekends because I'm in college and work, but since September 16th my weekends have been dedicated to elk hunting.
From then till now, my weekends were already booked to hunt elk. I passed on many nice bulls, I was starting to wonder if I was getting to picky.
Then a few weeks ago my sister and I had an encounter with this bull at 40 yards and I put the cross on him and squeezed and it was a clean miss. I bumped my scope and it all out of wack. I was honestly devastated and didn't know what to think, I kept trying to tell myself that there's a reason you didn't kill him. I told myself that I was going to get him and that was my mission. During the week my Dad, fine tuned my rifle for me since I had no time. Hunted hard all weekend and then Sunday my sister and her husband went out into the sun and watched the elk filter across the prairie to the timber. Next thing I know I spotted him and I knew it was him by his kicker on the left antler. I put one shot into him at 260 yards and then finished him at 460 yards. I got to share that great memory with my big sister Abbie and brother-in law Jamie. So far it's one of my favorite memories hunting elk!
